The Sermon on the Mount gives us the opportunity to call one another to more practical committed obedience to Christ while also exalting Christ as the one who fulfills the law on our behalf and in our place. We should seek to ask: “what would our lives be like if we really lived this way?” while also acknowledging that only Christ fulfills this law completely, and so linking the radical call to obedience with the radical grace of Jesus and our righteousness being found in him alone.
